When thinking about your most important school year we all tend to think off the top of our heads that it is grade 12. I mean it is after all how good you pass here that determines if you will be accepted to university. WRONG! Your acceptance to university and the course of your choice starts long before you are in grade 12. Well, which year do you think is the most important now? Grade 10? Wrong again. It is grade 9. Why you may ask?
Well, to answer this question I will need to work backwards: you are applying to university and wish to let’s say become a doctor. For that you need the right subjects and good marks in those subject choices, you also need to have extracurricular activities participated in as part of your application. However, they don’t just look at your grade 12 results but they also ask for your grade 11 results when you apply to the university. These subjects you don’t choose in grade 12, you have them from grade 10 you already have to select these subjects at the end of Grade 9 and not in Grade 10.
What does this all mean? Well, this means that in grade 9 you must already have an idea of what you want to do after school. Then you need to work hard in grade 9 in order for you to be approved for the subjects you want to take in order for you to be accepted to your course of choice after high school. This means this is actually a very long process and not just you going to write grade 12 and receiving good marks in your Grade 12 exam.
Over the next few weeks we will be posting all the different careers that exist and what the subjects are that you will need to pursue these careers.
Thank you for reading! We hope that this has been helpful and be sure to look out for the follow-ups on this Blog.
